 What is Shockwave Therapy?

Radial Pressure Wave (RPW) Shockwave Therapy is a medical treatment that uses ultrasound-driven high-energy soundwaves and pressure pulses to target your injury and activate your body’s natural healing response.

Global research confirms RPW Shockwave Therapy is a safe and highly effective treatment for treating chronic pain with better outcomes than cortico-steroid injections in various musculoskeletal conditions. Originally used in the 1990s to treat gallstones, this technology has since been successfully applied in over 3million procedures worldwide to manage stubborn soft tissue and bone conditions.

RPW Shockwave Therapy is clinically proven to be effective in treating long-term tendon issues such as Tennis Elbow, Jumper’s Knee, Achilles tendinopathy, and plantar fasciitis—with success rates of 70–80%. It is also effective in managing delayed bone healing in 60–90% of cases (ISMST).

Emerging research highlights its benefits in treating frozen shoulder, osteoarthritis, and low back pain linked to facet joint dysfunction.

The therapy speeds up healing in both bone and soft tissue, making it a powerful rehab tool widely used across professional sports, particularly for persistent tendon injuries and plantar fasciitis.

We use the Chattannooga RPW2 —one of the most advanced devices on the global market.

 How Shockwave Therapy Works

 Pain Relief

·      Blocks pain signals through the “Pain Gate Mechanism,” reducing nerve sensitivity

·      Releases tight muscles, trigger points, and knots to quickly relieve pain

Inflammation Reduction:

·      Boosts mast cell activity, helping reduce chronic inflammation and restore function

Calcium Breakdown

·      Targets painful calciumbuild-up in tendons

·      Acoustic waves break downcalcifications, easing discomfort and improving mobility

Enhanced Blood Flow

·      Creates microtears in tissue to stimulate new blood vessel formation

·      Increases oxygen supply and circulation to the area, accelerating recovery

Healing Stimulation

·      Promotes collagen production—key for muscle, joint, and connective tissue repair

·      Builds a strong framework to support the growth of new healthy cells

Who is RPW Shockwave Therapy For?

This treatment is ideal for long-standing tendon and bone issues where healing has stalled, or pain has persisted for over three months.

 Common conditions treated include:

·      Achilles Tendinitis

·      Jumper’s Knee

·      Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
