The path to better health

Our 36

approach

We combine a hands on approach with movement & exercise to achieve the best outcome.

We are goals orientated. Longer treatment times in a private highly equipped gym environment enables us to get specific to achieve long lasting results.

Services
01

Restore

Relieve connective tissue dysfunction & joint function at injury site & contributing regions.

02

Reload

Addressing the root cause of movement inefficiencies and restoring efficient movement patterns, it’s now time to load!

03

Retrain

Now you have a solid foundation. It’s to build strong, robust, resilient athletes through world class strengthening programs.

We integrate data & measurement

We use industry-leading VALD performance technology to guide clinical decisions and track progress, including:

  • ForceFrame – Measures isometric strength in key joints such as knees, shoulders, and hips. Identifies weaknesses and asymmetries to design targeted rehab and track progress.
  • ForceDecks – Dual force plates that assess power, balance, and load distribution. Used for safe return-to-sport testing, injury prevention, and optimising movement mechanics.
  • VALD Dynamo – Measures joint-specific strength and control, giving detailed insights for rehabilitation and performance tracking.

This removes guesswork and ensures rehab is targeted and results-driven.

Why measurement matters
an arrow pointing down

Pain and movement quality don’t always tell the full story. Two people can feel similar symptoms while having very different strength, balance, or load-tolerance limitations underneath.

Objective measurement allows us to see what the body is actually capable of; not just what it feels like on the day. By measuring strength, asymmetry, power, and control, we can identify hidden deficits, set clear rehab targets, and progress loading safely.

This data also lets us track real progress over time. Rather than guessing when you’re “ready,” we can make informed decisions about rehab progression and return to activity based on measurable improvements, reducing uncertainty and lowering the risk of re-injury.

In short, measurement turns rehab into a clear, guided process instead of trial and error.

Rehab in a world-class training facility

Your recovery doesn’t stop at the treatment table.
Physiotherapy at Sports Physio Lab takes place in a fully equipped, world-class training facility. This allows treatment to transition seamlessly into active rehabilitation and performance training.

We also integrate advanced tools such as:

  • Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training using BFR cuffs to accelerate strength gains during early rehab phases
  • Compex neuromuscular electrical stimulation to improve muscle activation, reduce pain, and support recovery within sessions.

This is especially valuable for return-to-sport, post-surgical rehab, and recurrent injuries.

Hands-on Physiotherapy treatment

All of our physiotherapists are highly trained manual therapists. Treatment may include joint mobilisation, manipulation, acupuncture, dry needling, and soft tissue techniques when clinically appropriate.

Manual therapy is never used in isolation. It is combined with targeted exercise, movement retraining, and performance based loading to create long term change and durable outcomes.

Why we don’t rely on hands-on treatment alone
an arrow pointing down

Pain and injury are often driven by underlying issues such as strength deficits, poor load tolerance, or movement patterns that aren’t supporting your body properly. If these factors aren’t addressed, symptoms often return.

That’s why manual therapy at Sports Physio Lab is always combined with targeted exercise, movement retraining, and progressive loading. This approach helps your body adapt, build resilience, and tolerate the demands of daily life or sport; reducing the likelihood of ongoing pain or repeat injury.

In short, hands-on treatment helps you feel better. Active rehabilitation helps you stay better.

The data you need

We use industry-leading VALD technology to measure strength, movement, and progress.  This removes guesswork from your recovery.

Our Tools and Technology

World class technology in Queenstown to accelerate recovery, measure performance, and enhance rehabilitation

At Sports Physio Lab, our clinic combines expert clinicians with cutting-edge tools to provide precise, results-driven care. Each piece of technology is carefully selected to improve recovery, prevent injury, and optimise performance. These tools give us objective data, accelerate healing, and guide rehabilitation or training programs with precision.

VALD Performance Technology

VALD products are the backbone of our data-driven approach. They measure strength, power, balance, and movement more accurately than traditional methods, allowing us to detect imbalances, track improvements, and design highly personalised programs.

Game Ready

Game Ready combines cold therapy with intermittent compression to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation. It’s particularly effective after surgery, acute injuries, or intense training sessions, helping clients recover faster with less discomfort.

NormaTec

NormaTec uses dynamic compression to improve circulation, reduce muscle soreness, and enhance recovery. Ideal for post-training recovery, rehab programs, or competition preparation, it helps muscles recover faster so you can train smarter and more consistently.

Compex Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
an arrow pointing down

Compex uses electrical impulses to activate muscles, improve strength, coordination, and endurance. In rehab, it prevents muscle loss when traditional loading is limited. In performance training, it enhances activation and accelerates gains. Combined with exercise, it ensures muscles are fully engaged and recovering efficiently.

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training
an arrow pointing down

BFR uses specialised cuffs to partially restrict blood flow during low-load exercises. This enables muscles to grow stronger without heavy weights, making it ideal for early rehabilitation, post-surgery recovery, or anyone who cannot safely lift heavy loads. BFR safely builds strength, endurance, and functional capacity while protecting healing tissue.

Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT)
an arrow pointing down

Radial Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers high-energy acoustic waves to injured or tight tissue. RSWT stimulates blood flow, reduces chronic pain, and promotes tissue regeneration. It’s particularly effective for conditions like plantar fasciitis, tendon injuries, and chronic muscular tightness.

At SPL, we use RSWT to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and break down scar tissue or adhesions that limit mobility. It’s a safe, drug-free method to relieve pain, improve function, and speed up recovery—often reducing the need for longer treatment programs. RSWT is frequently combined with physiotherapy and rehabilitation exercises for long-term results.

Why SPL’s Technology Matters
an arrow pointing down

By combining VALD measurement, recovery systems like Game Ready and NormaTec, performance tools like Compex, innovative BFR training, and Radial Shockwave Therapy, we can assess, treat, and optimise your body like no other clinic in Queenstown. Each tool is integrated with our physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage, and strength & conditioning services to create a seamless, evidence-driven approach that maximises results.
